Working on a Game Capture Crew

Zookeeper Amy Hanna worked on a game capture crew in South Africa in April and May of 2006. She helped collect over 200 animals that were transferred to other locations for conservation purposes.

Alligator River Field Trip

Long-time FTE writer and sea turtle conservationist Jackie Orsulak doesn't limit herself to working with greens and loggerheads. She's also interested in a variety of other wildlife, including marine mammals and polar bears. Over the previous year, she and her colleague Dru Ferrence have made several visits to the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge in northeastern North Carolina. While their focus was on learning about black bears, they encountered a number of other wildlife species as well.

Cameroon Field Diary: May 2009

UPDATED 27 MAY 2009 Dr. Mike Loomis, Chief Veterinarian at the North Carolina Zoological Park, will be working with his colleagues at World Wildlife Fund to deploy satellite collars on elephants in Cameroon. For May 2009, the team will be located in Korup National Park and in the Ngoila-Mintom region. Field Trip Earth will be tracking the team's progress and posting Dr. Loomis's field journal.
