Leaving Soon for Korup North

by Mike Loomis
June 25, 2010

We're back in Limbe, drying out equipment and setting up to leave for the northern section of Korup National Park tomorrow. Our trip tomorrow will be a long one: there aren't any direct roads from here to north Korup, plus the roads that do exist are pretty bad and will be worse given all the rain we've had in the last couple of weeks.

I am still in shock about the amount of rain we've had lately. Of course, it is the rainy season and I've been in Cameroon during the peak of rainy season in the past, but I've never seen rain like this. Last night, torrential rains continued for several hours straight.

My friends here are disappointed that Cameroon has been eliminated from the soccer World Cup, but some of us are excited that the United States remains in the tournament. Depending on our travels tomorrow, we may be able to watch Saturday's game.
